The Tin Cup Challenge Is Open. Here’s How to Pick 3!
Pick 3. That’s It.
Most of us want to do something. We just don’t know where to start.
Here’s what we’ve learned after 17 years in this valley: small, consistent actions matter more than grand gestures. Showing up for someone you care about matters. Asking for help when you need it matters. Giving what you can, when you can, that matters too.
So this summer, we’re asking you to: Pick 3.
How It Works
The Tin Cup Challenge runs June 12th through July 24th, and we’ve built this year’s campaign around three simple categories: Care. Connect. Contribute.
Choose one from each. Or stack a few from the same column. There’s no wrong way to do this. The point is to make mental health feel less like a concept and more like something you actually do.
Here’s the full menu:
Care
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for mental health, yours or someone else’s, is small and quiet.
- Check in on someone. Text a friend you’ve been thinking about. Ask how they’re really doing.
- Listen without fixing. Let someone talk without jumping to solutions. It’s harder than it sounds and more helpful than most of us realize.
- Practice self-compassion. Talk to yourself the way you’d talk to someone you love.
- Ask for help when you need it. This one counts. It takes courage, and it sets an example for everyone around you.
Connect
Isolation is one of the biggest threats to mental health in a rural community. Connection is the antidote.
- Say yes to an invitation and show up. You know the one you’ve been putting off.
- Introduce two people who should know each other. Community is built one introduction at a time.
- Strike up a conversation with someone you don’t know. At the farmers’ market, the park, the coffee line, wherever.
- Volunteer or get involved with a local organization. There are a lot of good ones in this valley that could use you.
Contribute
Your dollars go directly to work here in Teton Valley. Here’s exactly what they do:
- $3 packs one Emotional First Aid Kit
- $30 funds one hour of case management
- $100 pays for one Peer Support Circle meeting
- $300 covers 3.75 counseling sessions through our Community Counseling Fund
Every dollar donated through the Tin Cup Challenge goes toward keeping mental health support accessible in this valley for the people who need it most, regardless of what they can pay. The Community Counseling Fund is how we make sure cost is never the reason someone doesn’t get help.
Ready to Pick 3?
And if you’re taking on a Care or Connect action this summer, we’d love to hear about it. Tag us on Instagram at @thementalhealthcoalition or send us a message.
You don’t have to do everything. You just have to pick 3.
