ANYONE CAN PREVENT SUICIDE

We know suicide can be a big, scary topic. AND, it doesn’t have to be.

Below are some guides to help you get help or help you better help those at risk.

I want to help someone…

Repeat after us: suicide, suicide, suicide.

The more we practice saying a word the easier it is. We know suicide is a hard one.

AND, it doesn’t have to be.

Research shows asking someone directly if they are thinking of killing themselves helps prevent death.

So you aren’t going to put the idea in their head or cause them to go through with it.

Nor do you have to be a licensed professional to talk to someone about suicide.

Prevention takes all of us.

And the first step is talking about it.

I am currently struggling…

Thanks for coming to this page. Thinking about killing yourself can be scary and intense.

It can also feel lonely and hopeless—like no one can possibly understand.

AND, it doesn’t have to.

There are people who care about you and want to help. And you just reading over this site means part of you wants to live.

So there’s hope.

Please learn how to make a Crisis Response Plan, call 988, or get to the nearest supportive person you can.

Talking about what you’re feeling and thinking is the first step.

I lost someone to suicide…

We are so sorry about your loss. Grief is the worst.

Suicide loss can be even more confusing and hard.

First, you are not alone. Suicide, unfortunately, affects millions each year. Others have been where you are.

Whatever you are thinking or feeling is probably normal. And also pretty uncomfortable, too.

We wish we could magically make it go away.

While we can’t do that, there are resources and others who can help you heal.

It’s okay to reach out and talk about it.

Hope and help is always available.
