Support for Survivors

Support for Survivors: There is currently not a monthly support group available for those who have lost a loved one to suicide in Teton Valley. Connecting with others who can personally relate to the intense feelings of losing someone to suicide can be immensely supportive and healing and we recognize the need for a local group and are in the process of developing it in conjunction with SPAN Teton Valley. In the meantime, contact the Idaho Falls  facilitators; Roma Hawkins 208-227-2100 and Sheila Murdock, as they meet monthly.
Where:Idaho Falls Public Library, room 4, 457 W. Broadway
When: First Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

FACT ABOUT SUICIDE
It is safe, and even helpful to talk about suicidal feelings with someone who is thinking about or making plans for suicide. There is no danger of “giving someone the idea.” Rather, the opposite is correct. Bringing up the question of suicide and discussing it without showing shock or disapproval is one of the most helpful things you can do. This openness shows that you are taking the individual seriously and responding to the severity of his or her distress.
